SUMMARIES of the Philippians

Paul have a deep friendship with Philippians so the letter is known as the letter of friendship. Paul seems to be a good teamwork man when he always have companions or co-workers.  He rejoices even in prison because he have happy memory with the Philippian and they are always in his heart and his prayers.  He does not care about envy and rivalry preacher but the Gospel be proclaimed. Paul shown that he are free and love to face with the death because he experienced the love and grace of God. One of special in the letter is Christ Hymn. This is the common faith of the community which contain Christ’s humility and obedience.  It makes the appeal to the Corinthians. Paul mentioned Timothy and Epaphroditus as they exemplify friendship in their deeds.

 One again, Paul mentioned the law and deal with circumcision in his letter. He said that righteousness is not from law but come from Christ’s faithfulness. Paul’s aim is to know Christ more clearly via Paschal Mystery. He encourage the Philippians to keep going forward and keep unity in God, especially Euodia and Syntyche. Paul mentioned “the Lord is near” as common believe that God come soon in their life time. Paul highlighted that only Philippians support him in his finance. He want to remind them about their generosity as great virtue because he did ask but they were free to offer as sacrifice to please God. They also exemplify friendship in Christ. Caesar is an image of empire and it can be a sign of secular world in divine world.
